Product Description

Our first list this year came from Lionel Bester and Boy did he deliver!

Andrew Gibson has been one of the best plants to breed to for surprises. Most of the top crosses in modern breeding come back from this plant.

Cai Xin is a picottee bred by Mr. Han of China I believe. That was one of the descriptors on the photo. It is an extremely compact very broad leafed plant with this amazing flower.

As you can see, a combination of these 2 could be pretty amazing. This is a more high risk cross but we think the reward side makes it worth the chance. This is however a "Gut Decision". Nobody knows the background of Andrew Gibson because its a habitat plant. We learn more and more about it as we breed to it. For instance it is now known that it breeds well with group 3 yellows. Many of the Chinese yellows seem to be Group 3. That makes this cross quite interesting.

As Always, We remind you that these are CROSSES. Not CLONES.  Seed breeding is like people breeding. If you have a parent with blue eyes and a parent with brown eyes, there's no guarantee you are getting a blue eyed kid. It all depends on the background genetics of the parents. We try to buy crosses that make sense to us, and that we think will create good flowers. We buy from breeders we trust, and who understand these facts, and breed in ways that work. That reduces the risk of getting something orange. That does not remove that risk. As always the risk is at its least with like to like and selfed crosses but even with a selfed cross sometimes you get a surprise. No matter who you purchase from or what they tell you, this is simply science and their words don't change those facts.
