Conway's Doris is one of the best reds out there. We love its broad leaf too.
As you can see this is quite the large, established plant. This comes from one of our customers and was an outdoor plant. It had some rust so we quarantined it for about a month and cleaned it up! Any rust spots seen on the plant are long dead.
If you are looking for a guaranteed red that will definitely flower, this is the one.
This note came from the breeder:
Dear Barry, I noticed that the color in the photo shows red deeper into the flower throat than my Doris plant has had when it blooms for me. I purchased the original directly from Dave Conway in the early 2000's. I still have the original tag in his hand writing. Could my plant have more yellow in the throat because I grow more shady & cool than California conditions? I want to make you aware of this in any case. Please advise.
With Reds, the brighter the lighting the darker the red. As for the throat, There are slight changes even in offsets one to the other. Think of them as twins not clones. -Jon
